Back then, the target of such disparagement was actress Lara Dutta, who found herself at the receiving end of derogatory comments regarding her perceived financial status.
For those unfamiliar, Lara Dutta ascended to fame after clinching the Miss Universe title in 2000, subsequently venturing into Bollywood with her debut film, “Andaaz,” in 2003. On February 16, 2011, Lara Dutta exchanged vows with Mahesh Bhupati in a civil ceremony, and on January 20, 2012, they welcomed their daughter, Saira Bhupati.
A viral photo depicted Lara Dutta donning an elegant white dress paired with a denim jacket. However, a keen-eyed social media user seized upon a detail: Lara’s phone cover, a brown leather accessory exhibiting signs of wear and tear.
The user took to Twitter, remarking,The user tweeted,

As soon as the comment went viral, Lara, gave a witty reply, saying that her phone cover holds sentimental values.
She tweeted:
“Exactly!!! Some things hold sentimental value too!!!”
In a previous instance on November 8, 2021, Lara addressed rumors circulating on Instagram regarding her alleged presence on a dating website. She clarified during a live session that she neither possesses nor has ever maintained a profile on any dating platform, despite encountering memes suggesting otherwise.
Acknowledging the prevalence of such memes, Lara emphasized her stance on dating apps, acknowledging their utility while affirming her current absence from any such platforms. She expressed amusement at the circulating rumors and memes but underscored their lack of truth:
“Since yesterday, my feed has been absolutely flooded with some memes and some messages, they have been telling me that I have a profile on some kind of a dating app. So, it’s been absolutely crazy, I have been going nuts since yesterday, trying to answer people one by one and tell them what the truth really is. So, I thought it is better to just go online and clarify it with you right here, right now that I am not on any dating app, have never been and am not on any right now either.”
On the professional front, Lara Dutta’s most recent appearance was in the film “Bell Bottom.”
