On September 7, 2024, Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan once again found herself at the receiving end of abuse from Islamists after sharing Ganesh Chaturthi wishes on Instagram. This has become an annual event, with the actress being subjected to insults and hate for celebrating Hindu festivals.
In her latest Instagram post, Sara Ali Khan greeted her followers with a message wishing joy and peace for the occasion, alongside a photo of her praying to Lord Ganesh.

The post quickly garnered over 2,700 comments, with some expressing support for her, while many others attacked her with offensive, religion-based slurs. Several users even excommunicated her from the Muslim faith, labeling her actions as ‘Shirk’ (a sin in Islam), while others engaged in name-calling.

One user, @shahpoor.yousufzai, questioned her participation in Hindu rituals, asking, “You are Muslim, why do you do pooja?” Another user, @mohammadaref1985, suggested she change her last name from “Khan” to “Singh” to reflect her actions. Other comments criticized her for not adhering to the faith of her father, actor Saif Ali Khan.
Despite the backlash, many also praised Sara for celebrating the festival.
