Comedian Samay Raina, who recently sparked controversy for making harsh remarks about fellow comedian Kusha Kapila during a roast, has now responded to the backlash. His comments, which touched on Kusha’s personal life and her divorce from Zorawar Ahluwalia, received criticism online. Kusha, who initially stayed silent, later expressed her disappointment, stating that the roast was supposed to be light-hearted, not hurtful.
In a recent Q&A session on his Instagram, Samay addressed the criticism. When asked about the negative reactions, particularly from certain Reddit users, he dismissed them as “jealous low-lifers” who were upset over what he called “stupid roast jokes.”
He added that one day, he might reveal his bank balance to make his critics even more envious
“I don’t feel anything about them. They’re a bunch of jealous low-lifers. Some day when this is old news I will release those stupid roast jokes and they will be the first ones to apologise to me for getting ‘triggered’ and spewing hate based on false information. Someday, I will also show them my bank balance so they can be even more salty and jealous.”
. Samay’s response has not gone down well with many netizens, who criticized him for boasting about his wealth instead of addressing the issue.
Previously, Kusha Kapila opened up about the roast, explaining that she hadn’t anticipated the harsh jokes and did not receive any payment for participating. The roast, which was part of the “Pretty Good Roast Show S1,” saw Samay make several offensive remarks about Kusha’s personal life, including her pet dog Maya and her relationship with her ex-husband, Zorawar.
Mujhe unko batana tha ki kyo hua yeh roast, aisa kya tha. Toh yeh meri taraf se ek simple clarification tha, ki paise mile the toh aise baithe the, nahi pata tha ki kya jokes aane wale hai.”
