In early February 2025, YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, became embroiled in controversy following an inappropriate remark made on comedian Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent.
During a bonus episode aired on February 10, Allahbadia posed a provocative question to a contestant:
“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”
This comment sparked widespread public outrage, leading to multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against Allahbadia and others involved in the show on charges of promoting obscenity. In response to the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, stating:
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I’m not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I’m just here for the apology. I personally had a lapse in judgment; it wasn’t cool on my part.
Despite his apology, Allahbadia reported receiving death threats directed at him and his family. He shared his concerns, revealing that individuals had invaded his mother’s clinic under the guise of patients, exacerbating his fears. He expressed his intention to face the situation head-on, stating:
“My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better, and I am genuinely sorry. I’m watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother’s clinic posing as patients. I’m feeling scared, and I don’t know what to do. But I’m not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India.”

The incident has ignited a broader debate on the boundaries of humor and the responsibilities of public figures in content creation. While Allahbadia’s comment was widely deemed inappropriate, the subsequent threats and harassment raise concerns about the proportionality of public reactions and underscore the importance of addressing grievances through lawful and civil means.
As the situation continues to develop, it highlights the delicate balance between creative expression and societal norms, as well as the necessity for discourse to remain within the bounds of respect and legality.
