Palak Sindhwani, known for playing ‘Sonu Bhide’ in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), has recently spoken out about the mistreatment she experienced on the show’s set. Allegedly, the show’s producers left her mentally traumatized, sparking much controversy. Rumors began circulating that Palak was issued a legal notice for breaching her contract.
Initially, both Palak and the show’s producer, Asit Kumar Modi, denied these claims. However, Neela Film Productions has now confirmed that a legal notice was indeed served to the actress. In light of this, Palak has issued a statement through her team, refuting the claims.
Denial of Breach of Contract and Harassment Accusations
In her statement, Palak strongly denied any breach of contract, calling the allegations “fabricated lies” meant to harass and defame her. She highlighted that for five years, she had no restrictions on brand endorsements, which only changed when she announced her departure from the show. She further emphasized that the production house had even collaborated with her on content for social media before she decided to leave.
Claims of Inhuman Treatment on Set
Palak’s statement detailed the difficult conditions she endured on set. She revealed that she faced constant harassment, resulting in mental health issues. Despite informing the production team about her deteriorating health and requesting medical leave, her pleas were ignored.
Allegations of Emotional Torture During Exit Discussions
According to Palak, after expressing her desire to leave the show on August 8, 2024, she faced emotional blackmail when discussing her exit with a senior producer on September 7, 2024. She claims the production house later made defamatory remarks about her on social media, adding to her mental stress and making it difficult for her to work.
“Palak has been subjected to constant inhuman treatment on the sets of the said Serial and is being harassed by all means by production house and its team which caused her various health issues including mental trauma. This concern about her health deteriorating was intimated to them from time to time on various occasions and she requested to allow her to take some medical leave to rest, but the same was declined by them under one pretext or the other and her such repeated requests fell on deaf ears.”
Palak also shared that, despite her health concerns, the production team forced her to work, leading to a panic attack on September 14, 2024. She informed the team about her condition, but her requests for medical attention were again ignored.
“However, production house completely brushed aside her health and other concerns and instead asked her to work with passion, and forced her to perform scenes on that very same day. As a result, on September 14, 2024, itself Palak suffered a panic attack on set, of which she informed the production team, who also did not pay any heed to her deteriorating health.”
Previous Allegations Against TMKOC Producers
Palak is not the first actor from TMKOC to accuse the producers of mistreatment. Several former cast members, including Jennifer Mistry, Priya Ahuja, Monika Bhadoriya, Shailesh Lodha, and Neha Mehta, have previously spoken out about their negative experiences with the show’s makers.
