Sonya shared a video on November 4, 2024, showcasing her Diwali celebrations in Pakistan. The post featured her wearing a saree and a bindi, along with scenes of friends enjoying traditional foods, singing, dancing, and lighting firecrackers. Her caption emphasized Pakistan’s cultural diversity, quoting Muhammad Ali Jinnah to promote unity and respect for minorities.

However, the post’s comment section quickly filled with criticism, with some fans accusing Sonya of “nonsense” and rejecting her decision to celebrate a non-Muslim festival. Comments ranged from, “Unfollowed… can’t stand this nonsense” to others insisting that Hindu celebrities don’t similarly engage in Muslim celebrations.
