Actress Rashmika Mandanna, known for her widespread acclaim and versatility, recently made headlines for her response to a fan’s comment on the film “Animal,” co-starring Ranbir Kapoor. The movie, despite its controversies, has seen Rashmika defending it with grace. A recent incident exemplifies this.
Fan Criticizes Male Representation in ‘Animal’
A fan shared a clip from “Animal” on X (formerly Twitter), criticizing the character ‘Ranvijay’ (played by Ranbir Kapoor) as representing untrustworthy men who cheat. The fan remarked,
“Remember nothing is scarier than trusting a man.”
Rashmika noticed the post and corrected the fan’s generalization. She emphasized that the fear lies in trusting foolish men, while acknowledging that there are many good, trustworthy men as well. She responded:
“Correction: trusting a stupid man = scary… there are a lot of good men also out there… trusting those men = special.”
Addressing Criticism Over Dialogue Delivery
Among other critiques of “Animal,” Rashmika was trolled for a scene where her dialogue delivery seemed inaudible. On Neha Dhupia’s show, she addressed the issue, recalling the nine-minute Karwa Chauth scene that was praised on set. Confused by the backlash, she questioned if she was living in a bubble, as the same scene received positive feedback during filming.
“The Karwa Chauth scene which was a nine-minute long scene and while doing the scene, people on the set loved it. They were clapping and felt it was done so well. But the trailer came out and I was trolled so much for that one particular dialogue from the same scene. So I thought, I did the 9-minute long scene and everyone on the set liked it, but people now are trolling me for the same. So am I living in a bubble? Like are people not gonna like this scene?”
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Rashmika recounted an emotional scene where she had to slap Ranbir Kapoor.
Despite being anxious, her director encouraged her to immerse herself in the character’s emotions. She described the experience as overwhelming, with her mind going blank between the action and cut.
“The whole sequence was one take because there was a lot of moving. It wasn’t predictable. I didn’t know what I was going to do. Sandeep told me just to feel how a person in this situation would feel. I remember only this. I don’t remember anything between the action and the cut. I just can’t process it. My brain was just going blank.“
