A man claiming to have been an engineer at a leading tech firm has been spotted begging in Bengaluru, garnering significant attention on social media. The incident came to light when content creator Sharath Yuvaraj shared videos of the man in a disheveled state, narrating his story of hardship.
From Tech Career to the Streets
The man, seen wearing a red T-shirt, was found in Jayanagar, south Bengaluru. In the videos, he spoke incoherently on topics ranging from David Hume’s philosophies to Albert Einstein’s theories. He claimed to have worked in Frankfurt, Germany, and later for a reputed tech consulting firm in Bengaluru’s Sattva Global City, previously known as Global Village Tech Park.
According to him, the tragic loss of his parents drove him into alcoholism, leading to his current situation. Sharath, who recorded and shared the videos on Instagram, revealed that the man appeared intoxicated and declined any help. Attempts to involve a local NGO were hindered as the organization stated police involvement was necessary for further action.
Internet Reactions
The videos sparked widespread concern and empathy among netizens. One user remarked, “This is tragic; we need better resources for mental health support.” Another added, “It’s devastating to see someone who was once part of the tech world in such a condition.”
Some voiced frustration over the lack of timely intervention. “We need more than just awareness; authorities must step in to provide support,” wrote one commenter. Others shared similar experiences of witnessing individuals in comparable situations, emphasizing the urgent need for systemic change.
This heartbreaking story has fueled discussions around mental health, social welfare, and the challenges faced by individuals struggling with personal losses and substance abuse.
