The rise of online delivery services has revolutionized how we shop, eat, and access various services. These services have become integral to modern life, offering the convenience of goods delivered right to our doorsteps, sometimes within hours. However, despite the accessibility and efficiency, this sector is not without its challenges, such as occasional delivery errors or damaged items, which can severely impact consumer trust and satisfaction.
A recent incident highlights this issue. A Delhi-based entrepreneur shared his experience where a friend ordered a speaker worth ₹30,000 on Flipkart but received a much cheaper model instead.
According to the entrepreneur, his friend ordered a Sonos speaker valued at ₹30,000 from Flipkart.
However, when the order arrived, it contained an MI Bluetooth speaker worth ₹2,300. Abhishek Bhatnagar, who has over 66,000 followers on X, took to the platform to voice his concerns. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue with Flipkart, there was no satisfactory response. In his tweet, he expressed:
“My friend (Nikhil) ordered a Sonos speaker worth ₹30,000 and received a Mi Bluetooth speaker worth ₹2,400 in a Sonos box. Despite numerous follow-ups and complaints, Flipkart and its support team have been unresponsive. My friend recorded the unboxing, which I’ve attached as proof, along with some photos. It’s disappointing that even with evidence of a wrong product being delivered, there’s no response. If this isn’t resolved, I will soon post the unboxing video as proof. My friend has also submitted the video, but there’s still no resolution or refund. Flipkart should be renamed Fraudkart.”

Bhatnagar also shared an unboxing video showing the sealed Flipkart package and the well-packaged Sonos box.

However, the video does not include footage of the Sonos box being opened. Images circulating online show the Sonos box containing the Mi speaker, but none capture the original speaker’s packaging being unpacked.
The incident has sparked a debate online, with some users urging Flipkart to investigate, while others dismissed it as a hoax. Here’s a glimpse of some reactions:
There’s a new Flipkart scam every time I open Twitter.

Today i have received a 1000 rs. TWS, and it was open box delivery, so can’t believe that your friend received 30000 rs. product without open box delivery, so your friend is a real scammer i think 🤣

Probably its some sort of dealer, courier, delivery guy and fraudsters involvement. Flipkart office not directly packing the stuff.

Update: Flipkart has investigated and found out that it was their mistake and has now promised a replacement.

Later, Flipkart acknowledged their mistake. In a follow-up post, Bhatnagar mentioned that Flipkart had contacted them and promised to resolve the issue within two days. He wrote:
“Update: Flipkart has investigated and found it was their mistake. They have now promised a replacement. Thanks to everyone who supported. For those who doubted, Nikhil is a close friend, and I trust him. I know the unboxing video wasn’t perfect, but he recorded what he could. In the end, when Flipkart admitted after investigation that the mistake was on the seller’s side, that was enough for us. Also, my friend Nikhil never asked for a refund; he wanted the product, which he is finally getting. For those on Twitter who abused me and him, I hope you now understand that just because there isn’t exact video proof of something doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Take care, everyone. Thanks again.”
