India’s vice-captain, Jasprit Bumrah, showcased his sense of humor during a press conference after Day 3 of the third Test, following India’s underwhelming performance on the field. When a journalist humorously questioned Bumrah’s batting ability while discussing India’s first-innings performance, Bumrah responded with a cheeky remark.
“It’s an interesting question. But, you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over. But, jokes apart. That’s another story.”

said Bumrah, referencing his iconic 34-run over against Stuart Broad in Birmingham in 2022. During that match, Bumrah smashed three boundaries and as many sixes off Broad, setting a record for the most runs in a single over in Test cricket.
India Struggles at the Gabba
India’s top-order collapsed under the relentless pressure of Australia’s pace trio—Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins. By the end of the rain-affected third day, India was precariously placed at 51 for 4, trailing Australia’s massive first-innings total of 445. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant all departed with minimal contributions.
Bumrah Shines with the Ball
Despite the batting woes, Bumrah delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking six wickets in the first innings, even amidst a 241-run partnership between Travis Head and Steve Smith, both of whom scored centuries. His consistent wicket-taking has made him the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with 18 dismissals in just five innings.
In another remarkable achievement, Bumrah became only the second Indian bowler after Kapil Dev to claim 50 Test wickets in Australia, further solidifying his legacy in Indian cricket.
