Sydney Thomas, a 20-year-old model and University of Alabama student, has become an internet sensation after her appearance as a ring girl during the highly anticipated Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight, which was streamed live on Netflix. The event, held at AT&T Stadium on November 15, attracted an audience of 72,300 fans, with millions more tuning in via Netflix.
Thomas took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the overwhelming support she received.
“I woke up to so much love and support from all of you,” she shared on her Instagram Story. “I can’t thank you enough, and I am so grateful. I love you all – thank you for your kind words.”
She also posted a TikTok video on Saturday acknowledging the attention she has garnered. “I’m happy you guys enjoyed the broadcast!!” Thomas captioned the post, adding a crying laughing emoji and a heart emoji. The video itself read: “waking up to see i’m trending for the Tyson vs. Paul fight.”
Netflix revealed that 60 million users tuned in to watch the bout, while ticket sales for the event generated over $17.8 million. This marks the largest boxing gate in US history outside of Las Vegas, with 72,300 fans filling the home of the Cowboys.
Although the fight itself was somewhat uneventful, it proved to be a commercial success. Tyson, 58, faced 27-year-old Paul in his first professionally sanctioned boxing match in 19 years.
Alongside Thomas, other ring girls at the event included Raphaela Milagres, Virginia Sanhouse, Delia Sylvain, and Lexi Williams.
