Ameer Aulia, who identifies himself as Zakir Hussain’s nephew, took to social media, refuting reports of the maestro’s death. In his post, Ameer urged people to stop spreading misinformation and called for prayers for Hussain’s recovery. He stated:
“I am Zakir Hussain’s nephew, and he has not passed away. We ask for prayers for my uncle’s health. Can you please remove this misinformation? He is in a serious condition, and we ask fans worldwide to pray for his recovery.”
Zakir Hussain’s Family Speaks Out
Further adding to the uncertainty, Zakir Hussain’s sister, Khurshid Aulia, confirmed to the Indian Express that the iconic musician is still alive. She shared:
“He is still alive. Please, I request you to pray for him. I am in touch with the family. He is very critical, but he is still breathing.”
Earlier Reports Spark Mourning
The initial reports suggested that Zakir Hussain, aged 73, had passed away after being admitted to a San Francisco hospital for a heart-related condition. Journalist Pervaiz Alam shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Hussain’s brother-in-law, Ayub Aulia, had confirmed his hospitalisation. Ayub had requested fans worldwide to pray for the maestro’s recovery.
