In the 21st century, the obsession with “fair” or “light” skin continues to persist, with some still equating lighter skin with beauty. However, it’s important to remember that true beauty comes from one’s character, not appearance.
Many celebrities today refuse to endorse fairness creams, even when offered substantial sums of money. While Indian celebrities earn well from their film careers, some seek additional income by endorsing various brands. However, not all are driven by financial gain.
Celebrities often face criticism for promoting skin-lightening products, but many have turned down millions to avoid sending the wrong message. For some, it’s not just about the money—it’s about their responsibility to promote healthy values.
Recently, actor R. Madhavan was asked by a fan about his seemingly lighter skin tone compared to a few years ago.
The fan’s comment was in response to a throwback photo Madhavan shared to encourage young fans, particularly during exam result announcements.
Curious, the fan asked,
“I appreciate your honesty about your marks. Just curious, since it’s noticeable from this old pic too—what product or procedure did you use to lighten your skin? Genuinely interested in knowing the secret. Thank you.”
I really appreciate you being honest about your marks. Just using this opportunity to ask, since it’s quite visible from this old pic as well, what product or procedure you used to lighten your skin ? Genuine interested in knowing the secret.
Thank you.— Manohar Gupta (@hiemanohar) July 15, 2020
Madhavan’s response was candid and classy:
“I never felt the need to not be myself or apologize for how I look. You shouldn’t either, brother. Just stay clean and hygienic—that’s the most attractive look. I tan easily when I play golf—that’s all there is to it.”
I never believed in wanting to NOT be who I am- nor felt apologetic for looking the way I did. You shouldn’t either bro..Just look and be hygienic .. most attractive way to look ..😄😄😆😆. I tan easily when I play golf-that is all there is to it . 🙏🙏 https://t.co/hkqHwSaWm7
