Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, known for his global fanbase and chart-topping hits, is currently captivating audiences with his Dil-Luminati India Tour. While performing in major cities, including Indore, his concert faced backlash from Bajrang Dal over reports of alcohol and meat being served at the venue.
Protests Ahead of the Indore Concert
Ahead of the concert, Bajrang Dal activists staged protests in Indore, raising objections to the serving of alcohol and meat, which they claimed violated cultural values. Yash Bachani, a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) member, stated:
“Bajrang Dal got information about a concert happening in the city where there would be open liquor, and meat would be served. We have come here to inspect the same.”
He added,
“We are also alert about any Love Jihad incident happening here. We oppose the open liquor and serving of meat to protect the culture in the city. Bajrang Dal can come out on the streets to protest against the concert tomorrow”
Local BJP leaders, including Golu Shukla and Usha Thakur, also supported the protests, prompting the event organizers to comply with the demands.
Diljit’s Fiery On-Stage Response
During the concert, Diljit addressed the controversy with a powerful recital of lines from Rahat Indori’s iconic poem “Agar Khilaf Hai Hone Do”:
“Agar Khilaf Hai Hone Do Jaan Thodi Hai, Yeh Sab Dhuaan Hai Koi Aasmaan Thodi Hai, Sab Ka Khoon Hai Shaamil Yahan Ki Mitti Mein, Kisi Ke Baap Ka Hindustaan Thodi Hai.”
His bold words resonated with the crowd, silencing critics and showcasing his unwavering stand against intolerance.
No Alcohol or Meat Served at the Event
In adherence to the protests, no alcohol or meat was served at the Indore concert. A concertgoer confirmed,
“There was no non-veg or alcohol at the venue.”
