Diljit Dosanjh, a global music icon with millions of fans worldwide, is currently in India for the India leg of his ongoing Dil-Luminati tour. His concerts have been a huge success, with all tickets sold out, leading to a rush among fans trying to get their hands on them. However, many fans have expressed disappointment due to ticket scams and the black marketing of tickets.
Fans Express Frustration Over Ticket Scams on Social Media
While the Dil-Luminati tour has been well-received globally, some fans have taken to social media to voice their frustrations regarding the ticket black market. Many fans have accused Diljit of being involved in these scams, which have created a sense of betrayal among his followers.
Diljit Addresses the Issue During His Concert in Indore
During his performance in Indore, Diljit addressed the accusations about ticket black marketing. In a video shared on Instagram, he clarified that he is not responsible for this issue. He emphasized that the ticket prices were being inflated by others, and it was not his fault. Diljit remarked:
“Bohut der se humare desh mein mere khilaaf chal raha hai ki, ‘Diljit ki ticket black horahi hai’. Toh mera kasoor thodei hai ticket black horahi hai? Right? Agar aap ₹10 ki ticket lelo aur usko ₹100 ki bech do toh kalakaar ki kya kasoor hai (For some time now this has been going on against me in our country, ‘Diljit’s tickets are being sold in black’. How is it my fault that it is happening? If you are buying tickets for ₹10 and selling for ₹100, then how is it the artist’s fault)?”
Diljit Recites Poetry and Defends Himself
Diljit, also known for his deep connection with poetry, recited a few lines from the famous poet Rahat Indori, who was from the city of Indore. Diljit dedicated the concert to Rahat ji and recited the following poem:
“Not in my presence, keep him somewhere else, you have brought him from the sky, keep him on the ground, now where will you go to find our murderer, you just put the blame of the murder on us.”
Diljit also made it clear that he is not afraid of being criticized or defamed, adding:
“jitne ilzam lagane hai lagalo mujhpe. Na toh mere ko koi badnami ka bhay hai. Koi tension nahi hai mujhe (Keep levelling allegations against me however much you want. I don’t fear defamation. There is no tension). Did all these start now? From the time there was cinema in India, it was there– ₹10 tickets in ₹20. Earlier in films, singers used to sing in the background and actors used to lip sync. Now singers have come to the front. That’s the only difference. Only that has changed.”
Diljit Shouts Out to Fellow Artists Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon
In the same video, Diljit gave a shout-out to his fellow artists, Karan Aujla and AP Dhillon, who are also embarking on their own tours. Diljit expressed his support for them, calling them brothers and wishing them success. He noted that this is the era of independent music, and though challenges will arise, the artists must continue pushing forward.
He said:
“Mere aur do bhaiyon ne tour shuru kiya hai Karan Aujla aur AP Dhillon nein, unke liye bhi best of luck. Yeh independent music ka time shuru hai. Musibate toh ayengi. Jab koi revolution aata hai toh musibat aati hai. Hum apna kam karte jayenge (Two of my brothers, Karan Aujla and AP Dhillo, have started their tour; best of luck to them, too. The time for independent music has started. Problems will arise. When there is a revolution, problems will arise. We will keep working).”
Diljit posted a video talking about independent artists with the caption, “Jai Shri Mahakal (folded hands emoji).”
“Jitne bhi independent artists hai, zor aur mehnat double kardo, Bharatiya sangeet ka samay agaya hai. Pehle bahar ke kalakaar aate the unki ticket black hoti thi laakhon mein, ab Bharatiya kalakaar ki ticket black horahi hai. Isi ko toh kehte hai vocal for local (All the independent artists, double your effort and hard work. The time of Indian music has come. Earlier, tickets for foreign artists were sold in black; now, it is happening for Indian artists. This is called vocal for local).”
