Veteran actor Dilip Joshi, famously known for portraying Jethalal in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has reportedly had a major fallout with the show’s producer, Asit Kumar Modi. According to sources, the argument escalated when Dilip attempted to discuss taking leave, but Asit reportedly avoided the conversation.
A production house insider, quoted by News18’s Showsa, revealed that the situation turned intense, with Dilip Joshi allegedly grabbing Asit Modi by the collar during their heated exchange.
The source added that the conflict arose when Asit chose to meet another actor, Kush Shah, who had just finished his last day on set, instead of addressing Dilip’s concerns.
“Dilip ji got very angry, and the two got into a heated argument. Dilip ji even held Asit Modi’s collar and threatened to leave the show. However, Asit bhai calmed him down. We don’t know how the two sorted their differences,”
the source shared.
This is not the first time the duo has clashed. Reports suggest they had a severe disagreement during the show’s Hong Kong schedule, which required intervention from co-star Gurucharan Singh (Sodhi) to defuse the tension.
Jennifer Mistry, who played Roshan Kaur Sodhi, also recalled past issues with Asit Modi during the Hong Kong trip, further highlighting recurring conflicts with the producer. Jennifer had previously filed a sexual harassment case against Asit, and over the years, other cast members, including Palak Sindhwani (Sonu), have exited the show citing issues like mental health and problems with the production.
Despite these challenges, Dilip Joshi has been an integral part of the series since its inception in 2008, delivering an iconic portrayal of Jethalal that has won hearts nationwide. However, ongoing disputes between cast members and the production team raise questions about the future of this beloved show.
