YouTubers Dhruv Rathee and Gaurav Taneja have sparked a heated debate on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the “India” vs “Bharat” controversy.
The conflict began when Gaurav Taneja criticized Dhruv Rathee, alleging that “some foreigners want to control all content on the internet.”
In a viral response, Rathee suggested that Taneja might benefit from his “YouTube Blueprint course” due to his “dying career.” Dhruv Rathee’s post read,
“No controversy can save your dying ‘career’ Gaurav, not even exploiting your kids for drama. You gotta make valuable content for that. Let me suggest my YouTube Blueprint course if you need help. Good luck.”

This exchange was triggered by spiritual leader Sadhguru’s comments advocating for the name “Bharat” over “India.” Sadhguru argued that India should have reclaimed the name “Bharat” after colonial rule ended, as it resonates deeply with the country’s heritage. He stated,
“We should have reclaimed the name ‘Bharat’ when the British left our shores. A name will not do everything but it is important the country is named in a way that reverberates in everyone’s heart.”

Dhruv Rathee responded to Sadhguru’s post, accusing him of an anti-India agenda. He stated,
“Everyone knows that both India and Bharat are written in our constitution, but just for politics, you are playing this dirty game of divide and rule.”

Gaurav Taneja, known as “Flying Beast,” then criticized Rathee’s comments, advocating for free speech. Taneja posted,
“Why can’t different opinions exist on the Internet? Why do some foreigners want to control all content on the Internet?” He concluded with the hashtag “dictator.”

The “India” vs “Bharat” debate gained momentum when G20 invites addressed world leaders as ‘President of Bharat’ instead of ‘President of India.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nameplate at the summit also read ‘Bharat’ instead of India.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has called the debate “useless” and announced that both terms will be used interchangeably in textbooks.
