Renowned actress Nayanthara, often celebrated as the ‘Lady Superstar,’ recently found herself embroiled in a copyright row with actor-producer Dhanush. The dispute centered around her Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, which used a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from Dhanush’s film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without his consent.
Dhanush Wins Legal Battle Against Nayanthara
The legal tussle escalated when Netflix filed a petition in the Madras High Court, seeking to dismiss Dhanush’s copyright lawsuit. However, the court ruled in favor of Dhanush, dismissing Netflix’s plea. Dhanush had earlier warned Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan, to remove the unauthorized clip within a stipulated time. When they failed to comply, he proceeded with legal action, suing them for ₹10 crore.
