According To Surveys, Single Women Are Using Condoms More Than Married Women. Here’s Why


The use of condoms in India has increased tremendously over the last decade, especially among the single women.


Seems like the efforts of the government of India, who has been advocating the use of condoms and other contraceptive methods for more than a decade now.

A survey was conducted for the year 2015-2016 which was conducted by the ministry of health. It revealed the following things.


According to Times Of India, around 99% of married women and men know at least one contraceptive method.

Single women between the age of 15 and 49 years, are using condoms more than the married women.The maximum use was observed between the age of 20 and 24. The good news is that, the use has increased from 2% to 12%. This is a very significant increase and the efforts put in by authorities to spread awareness about STDs and use of condoms have shown good results.

Two-thirds of married women between the age of 15 and 49 are now demanding family planning methods.

On one hand, while  it’s a good news that women are opting for safer sex, but the survey also revealed some bad news related to men’s idea of women using contraception.

According to the survey, 20% believes that women who uses contraceptives may become promiscuous. Three out of eight men also believes that contraception is a “women’s business”, and they should not have to worry about it.
