Delhi man’s humorous request for free onions with his Swiggy order has gone viral, prompting a delightful response from Swiggy Instamart, which launched a flash sale on onions.
The incident began when the man, frustrated with the soaring prices of onions, pleaded with a restaurant for extra onions:
“Bhaiyya, please send round cut onions. Onions bahut costly hai, I can’t buy. Please send onions, bhaiyya.”
His flatmate shared a screenshot of the request on Reddit, where it quickly gained traction, garnering over 4,000 likes and 138 comments. Social media users reacted with laughter, poking fun at the steep rise in onion prices, which have recently hit record highs.
Among those who noticed the post was Swiggy Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer, Phani Kishan Addepalli. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he shared the viral post and announced a flash sale on onions. From 7 to 8 pm, Swiggy Instamart offered onions at a flat rate of Rs 39 to all users in Delhi-NCR.
