Recently, shifts in cultural norms have transformed dietary habits, influenced by factors like globalization, industrialization, changing lifestyles, and technological advancements. A rising trend is seen in people incorporating packaged foods and beverages into their daily diets. This shift has driven the rapid expansion of India’s packaged food industry. However, with growth comes scrutiny, as quality issues in packaged products are closely monitored. Recently, a resident from Faridabad reported finding fungus in Dabur’s Real Fruit Juice, raising questions about the product’s safety and sparking discussion on Reddit. Dabur soon issued a public response addressing the issue.
Incident of Fungus in Dabur’s Real Fruit Juice
The incident unfolded when the Faridabad resident purchased a tetra pack of Real Fruit Juice from DMart, giving it a shake and pouring it into a glass. Partway through, the spout clogged, prompting him to investigate. He discovered a strange jelly-like substance, which he believed to be fungus, and suspected the juice was contaminated. Dabur, in response, expressed regret and dismissed the possibility of fungal contamination.
A Reddit user, TheAxiomaticGaming, shared the experience on a Delhi-based community forum with the title:
“Found contamination inside a sealed ‘Tetra pack’ of Real Fruit juice!”
The post read:
“Got it a few days ago from the nearest DMART. Opened it and chugged half of it within a day or two. Suddenly the spout got choked, so I gave it a good shake and poured the juice into a glass, only to realize it contained a weird contamination inside. Still alive and well, thank you.”
Dabur’s Response to the Report
In the Reddit post, the user detailed Dabur’s response. Upon contacting Dabur, they apologized for the inconvenience and denied that the substance was fungus. Dabur offered to take back the remaining juice for investigation and provided a replacement pack.
Wrote an email to Dabur apprising them of the situation, They apologized for the inconveniences caused and ruled it out allegedly as FUNGUS which is weird cuz the pack was sealed shut. Told them that they can have the remaining juice back should they plan of investigating the content further to which they sorta agreed. But hey, atleast I’m getting a free replacement for the same now yayyyyy!!! FREE JUICE
