Bollywood has always adapted to eras and at times has been beyond eras or even ahead of time. Some of the Bollywood movies have amassed huge profits and profuse appreciation at the global level and we see Bollywood as a symbol of our pride on the international pedestal.

But did you know that some of your favorite movies from Bollywood were remade versions of movies and not original? Well, in case you did not, here is the list of the movies which are remakes of old Bollywood movies or from a different movie industry.

  1. Rowdy Rathore

The Akshay Kumar movie is actually the remake of the 2006 blockbuster, Vikramarkudu. Vikramarkudu was a Telugu movie which starred Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty. The movie was a big blockbuster in the south. The movie was remade in Tamil, Kannada, and Bengali as well.

2. Ghajini

Ghajini was originally a Tamil movie which starred Suriya and Asin. The movie was remade in Bollywood with the same name and the same lead actresses. The only difference was that Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan replaced Suriya in the Hindi remake.

3. Drishayam

The suspense thriller featuring Ajay Devgan was a remake of a Malayalam movie released in 2013 and the title was kept the same. In the original film the lead role was played by Mohanlal and it is known to be his best role ever. In the Tamil remake of the movie, Kamal Hasan took the lead role.

4. Bodyguard

The popular Salman Khan entertainer which also featured Kareena Kapoor is a remake too. Bodyguard is a remake of a Malayalam movie of the same name. The original movie had Dileep and Nayanthara in the lead roles. This movie was also remade in Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali.

5. Don

The Shahrukh Khan movie is a remake of the iconic movie in which Amitabh Bachchan played the lead role. Both the versions were highly successful. The movie was also remade in Tamil in which Rajnikanth played the role of the don.

6. Wanted

This movie which features Salman Khan is a remake too. The 2009 film was about reviving Salman’s career in the Bollywood and it was a remake of the Tamil film Pokiri.

7. Singham

The popular Ajay Devgan movie which brought him great fame is a remake of a Tamil film that was released in 2010. The original film had Suriya playing the lead role of the hotshot cop.

8. Force

Force was a remake of Kaakha Kaakha which had Suriya and Jyothika. The Bollywood remake of the film saw John Abraham and Genelia in the lead roles.
