The rise of fast-delivery platforms like Blinkit, Swiggy, Instamart, Zepto, and Dunzo has revolutionized urban consumer behavior in India and beyond. These services promise quick delivery, often within 10–20 minutes, of groceries, meals, and other essentials. While their convenience has attracted a large user base, these platforms often face challenges such as logistical errors and allegations of fraud, which can tarnish their reputation.
Bengaluru Customer Alleges Fraud Over Missing Item
Blinkit recently faced criticism from a Bengaluru customer who claimed the company failed to deliver a “free 1-liter oil” promised as part of a promotional offer. The customer took to social media to share their experience, which quickly gained attention.
Posting under the username “Adventurous-Parsnip3” on Reddit’s Bengaluru community, the customer described their ordeal:
“Ordered 5L + 1L oil from Blinkit. Advertised as 5L + 1L on the app for ₹1072. Delivery agent delivers only 5L. We raised a complaint with Blinkit and requested they either fulfill the order or take back the 5L.”
The customer also highlighted Blinkit’s policy, which limits compensation. They noted:
“They now say they will give a ₹100 coupon against an item that was ₹1072/6=₹178 because it’s the maximum their policy allows. They further claim that 1L oil was free and hence no value can be ascribed to it. What is the recourse available against such frauds?”

Blinkit’s Response to the Complaint
The customer later revealed how the issue was resolved after escalating it to Blinkit’s official X (formerly Twitter) support page. Following negotiations, they received a reimbursement of ₹180. The customer commented:
“Got a ₹180 refund from Blinkit after raising the issue with @BlinkitCares on X. Apparently, they are doing me a big favor as a ‘one-time special permission’ to go beyond the system. Oh, I feel special today.”
Growing Concerns About Logistical Errors
Incidents like these are becoming increasingly common as demand for quick-delivery services grows. Companies face mounting pressure to handle rising orders efficiently while avoiding logistical mistakes. Such lapses, however, can erode customer trust and damage brand credibility.
