Business magnate Anand Mahindra has reiterated his commitment to a promise made to India’s armless archer, Sheetal Devi, as she gains widespread acclaim for her performance.
In a recent update, Mahindra, inspired by Sheetal Devi’s remarkable skills at the Paris Paralympics 2024, shared his eagerness to fulfill a vow he made to her. Despite not winning a medal in the individual event, Sheetal’s precision and determination have garnered her admiration from many, including Mahindra.
A video of Sheetal hitting a bullseye went viral on social media, showcasing her extraordinary talent and drawing global attention.
Reacting to the video, Mahindra posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“Extraordinary courage, commitment, and a never-give-up spirit are not defined by medals. #SheetalDevi, you are a source of inspiration for our nation and the world. Nearly a year ago, I offered you a customized car from our range to support your mobility, which you agreed to accept upon turning 18. I look forward to honoring that promise next year. Despite her impressive performance, Sheetal was eliminated in the round of 16 in the compound women’s open category at the Paralympics. Using her toes to draw the arrow, she faced a setback in the second end, ultimately losing to Tokyo silver medalist Mariana Zuniga of Chile with a score of 137-138 in the pre-quarters.
