Salman Khan: Not only is Salman Khan known as Bollywood’s “Bhai,” but he is also often referred to as the “Sultan of Controversies.” While his security has been tightened due to ongoing threats from Lawrence Bishnoi, this is not the first controversy the actor has faced. Over the years, many celebrities have criticized Salman for his work and behavior. Among them is singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who once openly challenged the superstar.
When Singer Abhijeet Challenged Salman Khan
Salman Khan has often been embroiled in controversies, and his ongoing feud with Lawrence Bishnoi, stemming from the blackbuck poaching case, has escalated in recent years. After the murder of Baba Siddique, reportedly a close associate of Salman, his security was significantly increased. However, this isn’t the first time Salman has faced criticism. Several celebrities have raised questions about his conduct and professional decisions, including singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya, known not only for his magical voice but also for his controversial statements, has been vocal about his disagreements with Salman Khan. He has criticized the actor for promoting Pakistani artists and even slammed him for replacing Arijit Singh’s songs with those of Pakistani singers in his films.
The Challenge: “If You Have the Courage…”
The controversy surrounding Salman Khan and Arijit Singh began when reports surfaced that a song by Arijit was removed from Salman’s movie “Sultan.” Tensions reportedly arose between the two. Then, in 2019, Abhijeet Bhattacharya publicly questioned Salman’s decision to work with Pakistani singers. During an event with India Today, Abhijeet expressed his disappointment, saying, “It’s unfortunate that Salman Khan had the song of an emerging Indian singer dubbed by a Pakistani artist.”
He further challenged Salman, saying, “If you have the courage, let me sing a song for your movie and then dub it with a Pakistani singer. Let’s see what happens.” When asked what he would do if that happened, Abhijeet bluntly said, “I’d bring an axe and cut my own legs. Indians should learn patriotism from Pakistanis.”
Interestingly, despite these past tensions, Salman Khan worked with Arijit Singh again in 2023 for a song in his movie “Tiger 3.”
