Popular stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is facing contempt charges after he posted a series of tweets for granting interim bail to Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami in a 2018 abetment to suicide case. The tweets also included a picture of the Supreme Court building swathed in saffron color with the BJP’s flag flying atop it.
Well, the tweet didn’t go down well with many including Supreme Court. Following his tweets, Attorney General KK Venugopal gave his consent to sue Kunal Kamra for criminal contempt for his tweets based on the Supreme Court order granting interim bail to Arnab Goswami.
Now, after receiving backlash, Kunal Kamra has refused to bow down in front of the court. He took to his social media and posted a long post explaining that he would not retract his tweets criticizing the Supreme Court or apologize. “No lawyers, no apology, no fine, no waste of space,” Kamra said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Kamal Rashid Khan or KRK, the self-proclaimed critic and actor, who is famous for his controversial tweets was once again at it. He took to his social media and backed Kunal Kamra. KRK hailed the comedian by calling him a ‘brave man’ for neither paying the fine nor deleting the pictures.
KRK also asked the court that when Arnab can speak anything why can’t Kamra? He wrote:
“Finally @kunalkamra88has proved that he is a brave man. He told to Supreme Court that he won’t delete his tweets neither pay any fine. And I think he is 100% right. If #ArnabGoswami is free to say, whatever he thinks right, then, Why not Kunal?”
