While the #MeToo Movement has successfully created ripples of news on how women in Bollywood are harassed every day, Chitrangada Singh opened up about one of such events where she had to face a lot of harassment on sets of Kushan Nandy’s 2016 film Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.
Apparently she was asked to “take off her sari, get on top of her hero and rub herself”
Later she also added, “I pleaded that this was not in my comfort zone. I said I was wearing only a petticoat underneath the saree. The director told me not to fuss and just do what was required. I was intimidated, bullied, and threatened into doing it. Some crew members were mortified. But, Nawaz just sat there waiting for the storm to blow over.”
She also said how women are also enemies to other women. The female producer, instead of defending her discomfort, sided with the makers of the movie.
When Kushan Nandy’s producer was asked, it was a completely different story.
“I am going on record. Chitrangda’s allegations are incorrect. Add this to the fact that she started reporting late on the set from Day 3. I had no problems with her last year when we shot a schedule with her in West Bengal. If I had, I wouldn’t have brought her Lucknow. In fact, Chitrangda was the one who suggested that she wanted to wear a low-cut blouse.”
The matter was blown off completely as if Chitrangada was under the impression that it was an erotic film.
