Twitterati Started A Meme Fest After Badshah Was Accused Of Buying ‘Likes’ And ‘Views’ For YouTube Record

One of the most popular Indian rappers Badshah has created a stir on social media and not in a good way. The social media is flooded with memes after Badshah was questioned by Mumbai Police in an investigation into an alleged racket selling fake followers on social media for follows and likes.

Badshah, who made news for breaking the record of Taylor Swift and Korean band BTS with the views on his song ‘Pagal Hai’ actually bought 7.2 crore views for the song to achieve that feat.

Many news media including Mumbai Mirror quoted police officials as saying that Badshah confessed of having paid INR 72 lakh for the fake views in order to set a YouTube record. There were reports that his other work was also being scrutinized.

Nandkumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police, told Mumbai Mirror:The singer confessed that he wanted to set a world record for most number of viewers in 24 hours on YouTube. That is why he paid ₹ 72 lakh to this company.”

However, Badshah has denied the allegations. He said:

“Following the summons, I have spoken to the Mumbai Police. I have aided the officials in their investigation by cooperating and carrying out the due diligence on my part. I’ve categorically denied all the allegations levelled against me and made it clear that I was never involved in such practices, nor do I condone them,”
