4 Biggest Flop Movies Of The Nepotism Gang Featuring Star Kids

Star kids often get easy access to the renowned producers and directors and manage to land big projects without proving their talent at any level, but the presence of star kids in a movie is not a guarantee for the movie to do well on the Box office.

There have been quite a few movies which featured the star kids but still got negative reviews from the film critics and eventually turned out to be a big flop.

Here are the 4 biggest flop movies of nepotism gang featuring star kids –

#1 Hero

The movie Hero which was produced by Salman Khan in 2015 featured not just one star kid, but two of them. Sooraj Pancholi, the lead actor of the movie, and Athiya Shetty, the lead actress, both came from a filmy background.

While everyone knows about Athiya’s father Sunil Shetty, Sooraj’s father Aditya Pancholi also worked in a number of movies and was one of the best supporting actors in the industry at one point.

However, the chemistry of Sooraj and Athiya in the movie Hero was rejected by the audience as the movie flopped.

#2 Teen Patti

This is an exceptional case because Shraddha Kapoor, who made her Bollywood debut with the movie Teen Patti, is considered to be a decent actress. But, Teen Patti flopped quite badly on the Box Office.

There is no doubt about the fact that Shraddha got a break in  the industry only because she was Shakti Kapoor’s daughter and when her debut movie flopped, it was a big setback for her.

But, Shraddha came back from it quite well and has delivered many classic performances in the last three years.

#3 Mirzya

Harshvardhan Kapoor, who is the son of the evergreen actor Anil Kapoor, worked in the movie Mirzya and although the critics rated Harshvardhan’s acting in the movie quite highly, the movie couldn’t achieve a lot of success on the Box Office.

Harshavardhan has not been offered too many projects after that.

#4 Refugee

#FlashbackFriday My 1st ever stage performance after becoming an actor. Got to share it with a pretty cool dude! This was for the "Help" telethon which was done to raise money to help all the victims of the devastating tsunami which occurred on December 26th 2004. This huge enterprise of getting the entire Hindi film industry together ( a Herculean task) was spearheaded by @duttsanjay . And although I was slated to make my debut stage performance in Amsterdam for the IIFA awards later in the year, I just couldn't say no to the cause and Sanju sir. Both dad and I performed to a mix/ medley of his song रंग बरसे and "one love" a track I had done as a cameo in my dear friend @suniel.shetty film Rakth. The show took place in early February 2005. Both dad and I were shooting for "Kajra re" with Aishwarya for Bunty aur Babli. I would shoot the song all day from 9am to 10pm and then drive to the concert venue and rehearse all night. I even spent my birthday shooting Kajra re ( but that is a different story, reserved for another Friday). At night, after the shoot I remember when I reached the venue for my rehearsal all the lights were off!!! Thinking that I had made a mistake and showed up to rehearse when there wasn't any…. Suddenly all the stage lights came on and all the dancers, Ganesh Hegde the choreographer, stage hands and technical staff surprised me! Then Sanju sir and @walia_bunty ( he was one of the organisers) rolled out a huge cake and a birthday present for me. They all sang and managed to embarrass me to bits! What fun. Good times!

The movie Refugee, which was released way back in 2000, also involved two star kids from two of the biggest families of the industry.

Kareena Kapoor, the granddaughter of the one and only showman Raj Kapoor, and Abhishek Bachchan, the son of the actor of the millennium Amitabh Bachchan, worked together in the movie and there was a lot of hype around the movie because of such high profile debutants.

But, as it turned out, the movie didn’t stick in the theaters for a long time and was declared a flop. The audiences were not really impressed by the acting skills of Abhishek and Kareena.

What do you think?
