It was a few months ago when popular music composer and singer Dr. Zeus had slammed Bollywood rapper and music composer Badshah and threatened to take legal action against him for recreating his blockbuster hit song ‘Don’t be shy’ for the movie Bala starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role.
Badshah, who has been a part of many recreated songs, is back with another song ‘Genda Phool’, which is currently trending at number 3 position on YouTube.
Well, before you think Badshah has recreated or remixed A R Rahman’s ‘Genda Phool’ then you are wrong, it’s nothing like it. Badshah’s ‘Genda Phool’ that features the very beautiful and sexy Jacqueline Fernandez, has already garnered millions of views in just five days of its release.
However, the song has opened to mixed reviews by the audiences. While there are many who loved the song and felt that it was catchy but there were many who found it annoying. But there’s more to it. The song is actually plagiarized.
Yes. You read that right. Ratan Kahar is a folk singer living in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. He is the man who wrote this song ‘Boro Loker Biti Lo’ in the year 1972.
Recently, Ratan Kahar revealed that the song was first adapted by a singer named Swapna Chakraborty in 1976, after which she received accolades and appreciation from all around. And since then the song has been recreated and remixed many times. However, since then Ratan Kahar, the original writer of the song hasn’t been given due credits for the song. Besides this, he hasn’t been given royalty of the song and doesn’t have financial support to back his point legally.
Here, check out the video of Ratan Kahar, which has been going viral on various social media platforms. Have a look:
Social media is flooded with reactions from fans on this. People are slamming Badshah for not giving due credits to the original writer of the song. Have a look at the reactions of Twitterati on this:
This is RATAN KAHAR, a folk artist from Bengal.
GENDA PHOOL is RATAN KAHAR's song from the 70s & is extremely popular amongst Bengalis.
Sadly he doesn't have the money to sue Badshah who claims that the lyrics/music is by him.
But you have the power to spread the truth. Use it. pic.twitter.com/x4kfFHBSd4

#Blasphemous @Its_Badshah has stollen the "Gaada Ful" song from Ratan Kahar without seeking express consent from or giving any credit to the original composer.@YouTubeIndia must immediately withdraw this video from their site with an apology to the Bengali community.#GendaPhool pic.twitter.com/VDC3yo7lc6

Rapper Badshah again didn't bother to give credit to the original lyricist of the Bengali verses in the recent song #GendaPhool. The verses are by Bengali folk singer Ratan Kahar.
Atleast give original lyricist the credit. pic.twitter.com/Ve04KOzb7P
