The Naman BCCI Awards for the year 2019 were held last night at Mumbai which is attended by many legendary players as well as the Indian cricket team. The BCCI Awards are held every year and there are various awards which are given out in this function.

A couple of players from the current Indian team won some awards. Mayank Agarwal won the debutant of the year award whereas the best all-rounder in Ranji Trophy was bagged by the young Shivam Dube.

Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently India’s and arguably world’s best bowler received two awards. He received the Polly Umrigar award and the Dilip Sardesai award yesterday night in Mumbai for his terrific performance throughout the year for India.

The Polly Umrigar award is basically the Best Male International Cricketer award. He received a trophy and a cheque worth 15 Lakhs as this award. On the other hand, the Dilip Sardesai award stands for the highest wicket-taker and the highest run-scorer in Test cricket in that particular season.

Jasprit Bumrah, who won that award has picked up 34 wickets in six games with three five wicket hauls to his name out of which two came against the West Indies. One of these five-wicket hauls even included a hat-trick.

Naturally, Jasprit Bumrah was happy about his achievements and hence he posted a photo on social media where he has those two trophies with a caption – Grateful and honoured to be taking two awards home tonight.

People from around the world and India started sending congratulatory messages to the No.1 ODI bowlers but that wasn’t the case with one of India’s best all-rounder in white-ball cricket – Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh noticed something in the photo and replied saying, “Jassi has de thoda no ones taking your trophies away????! Jokes apart many congratulations you truly deserve it??????”

Yuvraj Singh was asking Jasprit Bumrah to smile as he was looking pretty serious in the photo which he posted. Later on, in the same message he congratulated Bumrah saying he really deserved it and rightly so.

Jasprit Bumrah really deserves those awards for his terrific performance for team India in the last season.
