As the number of Coronavirus infected cases crossed the 500 mark in India on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an all-India locked down for the next 21 days that will be affected by midnight tonight. In his address to the citizens, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone to forget what stepping out of the home feels like or warned that the country will go back 21 years.
“If we are not able to manage the upcoming 21 days (of nationwide complete lockdown), we will be pushed back 21 years,” PM Modi said.
So far, at the time of writing this article 519 cases of Coronavirus pandemic have been reported in India with total death leading to 10. Therefore, in order to contain the outspread of the Coronavirus pandemic Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a locked down for 21 days i.e till 14th April. However, as the lockdown will be imposed on 32 states and Union Territories, the center has asked the state governments to clamp curfew wherever necessary in the wake of people defying the lockdown.
Prime Minister was confident that India will tackle this big challenge ahead of them and will emerge victorious. He said:
“Today India is at the stage where our actions today, will decide that to what extent we can bring down the impact of this disaster. This is the time to strengthen our resolve again and again,”
