The Men in Blue made everyone proud by winning the first T20I against New Zealand after successfully chasing the mammoth target of 204 runs. The Indian batsmen were in their brilliant form as they gave the New Zealander’s bowlers a hard time at Eden Park, Auckland.
Before the match began, Virat Kohli won the toss and for a change, he opted to ball first. His decision to bowl first turned out in favor of him. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul’s brilliant partnership brought the men in Blue closer to the target and brought momentum to the game. While Virat Kohli scored 45 runs, KL Rahul smashed 56 off 27 balls.
Besides his latest performance against New Zealand, KL Rahul has been in some amazing form lately. He has been giving many back-to-back amazing performances on the field. From making him play at different positions to making him don the wicket-keeping gloves, KL Rahul’s cricketing skills were being tested.
However, Rahul, who replaced Rishabh Pant as the keeper for the Indian cricket team, not just proved his brilliance with the bat by smashing some big shots but also impressed everyone with his time behind the stumps.
With KL Rahul doing great behind the stumps, everyone is doubtful of Rishabh Pant making a comeback as the wicket-keeper for India.
After the match, Rahul was asked about the comeback of Rishabh Pant in the team. The reporter asked:
“Do you see Pant coming back into the side and playing in this series?”
To which, KL Rahul answered:
“It’s not upto me, I mean…”
KL Rahul also expressed his feeling regarding the new duty provided to him as the wicket-keeper Talking about the same, KL Rahul said:
“I’m quite honestly loving it. At the international stage, it might seem very new and it might seem like I’ve never kept. (But) I’ve kept for my IPL franchise for the last 3-4 years, and I’ve kept for my first-class team as and when there is an opening. I’ve still stayed in touch with wicket keeping.”
