Recently, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor received the best birthday gift as he received a signed jersey from Lionel Messi, the superstar of FC Barcelona on the 36th birthday of Ranbir Kapoor with the initials of his name RK written on the back along with No. 8. It was a fanboy moment for Ranbir Kapoor as he received the jersey from his favorite star.
Now, in the same way the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee received a signed Barcelona club jersey with Didi and No. 10 written at the back from Lionel Messi with a message for the CM that reads :
“Best wishes for my friend Didi from Lionel Messi”.
West Bengal is known for its rich football heritage and culture with India’s most iconic clubs Mohun Bagan and East Bengal hailing from West Bengal. The jersey reached Mamta Banerjee through Barcelona Legends last week as a token of appreciation for successfully hosting the Under-17 World Cup in 2017 as it was the first time India hosted any FIFA event.
The legends team had arrived to play a friendly match against Indian football giants Mohun Bagan. After the match, Barcelona legends Juliano Belletti and Jari Litmanen presented the jersey to the Football Next Foundation organizers as the Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee wasn’t available at that moment.
The founder of Football Next Foundation, Kaushik Moulik said :
“They couldn’t hand it over to Ms Banerjee personally, so they gave it to us. We have approached the CMO. Whenever Ms Banerjee agrees to meet us, we will hand it over to her,”
Well, it was a very great gesture by the legendary team.
