Indian politicians are a different breed, with many of them indulging in shameful acts to protest and cause a uproar in their respective legislative houses. From throwing chairs to pulling a women leaders sari, there have been several incidents which bought shame to Indian politics.

1- Rajendra Kumar Chatria

Mr Chatria, who represented Indian National Congress in the Odisha Legislative Assembly climbed on to Speaker’s podium and laid down on it during an agitation. An unusual and embarrassing style of protest by the legislator but it did give laughter prangs.

2- Shirtless MLA’s from RLD

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) legislators Veerpal and Sudesh Sharma took out their ‘kurtas’ in protest against the SP government in Uttar Pradesh Assembly. The incident was hilarious and an insult to the Indian constitution.

3- Jyoti Singh

This congress MLC threw several flower pots outside the assembly after she was allegedly manhandled by marshals. What an idea, madamji!

4- Vijender Gupta

Vijender gupta of Bhartiya Janta Party took on 67 opposition MLA’s alone in the Delhi Legislative Assembly and stood up on his desk to speak out his point. Shame!

5- Tarlochan Singh Soondh

The Congress MLA from Punjab hurled his shoe at Akali MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha over an alleged caste slur, though he ended up hitting Bikram Majithia, a former Punjab minister. A Canada-based news channel later reportedly offered Soondh Rs 50,000 if he could bring the shoe on their show.

6- Jayalalithaa’s saree pulled in assembly

On March 25, 1989, DMK deputy leader, Durai Murugan, and his colleague Veerapandi Arumugham, jumped over the Treasury Bench and pulled Jayalalithaa’s saree.

7- Pepper Spray Attack in Parliament

To protest against the formation of Telangana, Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh MPL Rajagopal sprayed a bottle of pepper spray while standing in the well of the house. He even smashed glass on the table

If that wasn’t enough to bring disgrace, TDP MP Venugopal Reddy brandished a knife in Parliament and bought shame to the lower house.

Apart from these, there have been several shameful incidents where members of the house indulged in body blows and allegedly threw chairs, mikes and other papers.
